Mayan Weaving part II

This clip is a video of Mayan weaver and painter Sergio Alvarado.  Using a treadle or foot loom he creates a traditional type of cloth known as jaspe (has-pay).  Please pay special attention to the studio in which he works.  Write down some possible answers to the following questions in your sketchbook. What hangs on the wall behind him?  Why does he keep measuring and checking his work?  In which direction do the jaspe threads run?  What do you notice about the thread when the camera zooms in?  What is the red, wooden object that he tosses between the threads?
